Reader translation pilots

Translation feedback processing

Effective 1 August 2026

Original comment retained

When a signed-in reader reviews a translated chapter, eHMS Press stores the selected language, chapter, translation version, verdict, and any correction written by the reader. The original-language comment remains the authoritative submission and is not overwritten by an English rendering.

English administrative rendering

A correction may be translated into English so the author and authorised administrators can understand and route it. When the automated service is configured, the correction text may be sent to OpenAI solely to create that English rendering. The request instructs the service to preserve hotel-finance terminology, abbreviations, numbers, quoted text, and uncertainty. Automated rendering may be unavailable or inaccurate, so administrators can revise it manually while retaining the original comment.

Purpose and access

The information is used to assess translation quality, correct terminology, select which language edition should be expanded, and coordinate professional proofreading. It is visible only to authorised administrators and relevant service providers. The English rendering does not automatically change the published book and does not make a legal or similarly significant decision about the reader.

Campaign and edition context

Where present in the page URL, eHMS Press may retain campaign source, medium, and campaign labels with the feedback. This allows aggregate comparison of reader interest by language and campaign. The record also retains the controlled English source version and translated-edition version so a correction is reviewed against the correct text.

Privacy rights

Translation feedback is handled with the other reader-feedback records described in the Privacy Policy. Readers should not include confidential hotel information, personal data about other people, credentials, payment data, or material they are not authorised to disclose.
